Photo Restoration

We have listed several questions that most people ask about our scrapbook services. Please e-mail us at:
Lynn@daystorememberscrapbooks.com with any other questions you have.

I have my photos in a pocket album. Do I really need a custom scrapbook?  No, you don't need a custom scrapbook, but you probably want one. Your photos and keepsakes are your memories of those days and times. A scrapbook is a gift to yourself or someone special that will be enjoyed now and for many years to come. It is a gift that can be passed on to future generations for their enjoyment. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we had gift like that passed down from our parents and grandparents?

How do we get started? The first step is to contact us at . Tell us a little about the project you have in mind, a family history album, for example. Your e-mail will be answered promptly and we will set up a time convenient to you for a consultation. During the consultation we will discuss your ideas, colors, themes and preferences. If we decide to go forward, we will then e-mail you photo and memorabilia inventories, journaling forms and instructions for organizing and sending your photos to us. If you live in the Atlanta area, we can arrange to meet at a neutral location for an in-person consultation.

Can we talk again if I have more questions or need advice? Yes, we can talk as many times as needed and we will answer any questions you have. We want your scrapbook to be just right for you. As the scrapbook is designed and assembled, we will e-mail you pictures of the layouts so you can see how it is progressing and have input into the details.

How do I select which photos to use in my album? You probably have favorite photos that you will definitely want to include. If you are unsure about which photos to include, we  can help you decide. Send the photos indicating the questions you have about them. We can decide which ones to use by phone or through e-mails.

What kind of photos and how many can fit on a page?  We can use old photos, new photos or reprints of scanned photos. The number per page depends on the size of the photo and the design of the page. Generally three or four photos per page can be used. However, with a little imagination and some creative cropping, we can create pages with many more photos. See our Gallery for examples.

Will you use a lot of embellishments on all of the pages?  We want the photos and memorabilia to be the focus of the page. Embellishments are used to compliment your photos and memorabilia. Also, different subjects and styles of custom albums require different levels and types of embellishments and different pages with in the scrapbook require different embellishments. We will work with you to create the custom designed album you want, including the level and type of embellishment.

Can actual newspaper articles, birth announcements, etc. be used in my scrapbook? Memorabilia is usually not printed on archival quality paper. We can handle these items in one of two ways. We can use a spray on the item to make it less susceptible to deterioration or we can use a scanned copy of the original that is printed on archival paper. The latter method also allows the size of the item to be adjusted to best fit the design of your scrapbook.

How do I tell the story behind the photos and memorabilia? The written detail of the story is called journaling. Journaling can be done in different ways. You can provide the journaling and it will be printed and incorporated in the design. We can also add journaling boxes for you to write in after the album is completed. A word may be enough for some pages and for others, especially family history albums, a large about of journaling is needed. Pages may also include quotes or poems instead of, or in addition to, journaling.

Will you alter the photos that I send? Photos will be cropped to fit the design of the scrapbook. For that reason, and others, you should keep a copy of your photos. If you have photos that you do not want cropped, just let us know on the inventory sheet. If you want none of your photos altered, we can scan and print copies to use in your scrapbook.

Can you fix photos of poor quality or with photographic issues? The answer to this questions varies. Days To Remember can enhance or restore most of your photos. We can remove red eye, blur a back ground or correct color of most photos. We can restore old photos that are not drastically damaged. We can usually change backgrounds, replace small areas of a picture. We will look at any issue to see if we can improve the photo.

How do I get my photos and memorabilia to you? You can mail the photos and memorabilia to us, following the detailed instructions we will send to you. You can send scans of the photos and memorabilia to us on a CD and we will print them in the sizes needed. You can also e-mail scans to us if you have high speed internet that will allow you to send large files. See Getting Stated for more information.

What if I am not happy with the scrapbook? Since you will be e-mailed regularly as we assemble your custom scrapbook, you will have input into the design. We want you to be completely happy with your scrapbook, so please let us know if we are not "on the right track." If you discover any problem, we will do our best o work it out as soon as possible, At any time during the process you can cancel your order and pay only for the pages that have been completed.

How do you arrive at the pricing of the scrapbooks? The price of the album is based on the cost of supplies and the time required to design and assemble the layouts. Days To Remember uses only high quality supplies, such as patterned paper, card stock, photo paper, and embellishments. Our design and assembly is of the highest quality. The detailed and intricate design of a two page layout can take several hours to complete. Convert that into an hourly rate and you will see that the price is reasonable. And, how can you put a price on your memories? A scrapbook preserves your special memories, not just for you, but for your children and grandchildren.

How do I pay for my scrapbook or project? We begin work on your scrapbook (or project) with a 50% down payment. After completion of your project, an invoice will be e-mailed to you with final charges and shipping fees. You can use Pay Pal or a personal check to pay for your scrapbook. If you pay with a personal check, work on your scrapbook will not begin and shipment will not be made until the check clears the bank.

What if I can't buy the whole scrapbook at one time?  Days To Remember has a couple of plans that will help you spread the cost over a longer period of time. One plan is "By the Page" which allows you to buy your custom album in two page layouts, paying the per page rate for them. A simple title page is included after ten pages have been purchased. The other plan is "Lay-A-Way" which divides the estimated cost into three equal payments. The first payment is the deposit, the second is due in 30 days and the third in 60 days. The album will be completed as the payments are made. See Prices for details.

How long will it take to complete my scrapbook? That depends on the size and complexity of your project. Projects with photo repair and/or printing will take longer than a project with photos that are ready to use. It will also depend on how many existing projects we have ahead of yours. If you need an order by a certain date we will do our best to accommodate that need.

How will my scrapbook be delivered to me? Upon finial payment, your scrapbook will be carefully packed in a sturdy box and shipped to you using UPS or USPS with delivery confirmation. You will be e-mailed when the scrapbook is shipped.

Will my layouts appear on your website? We may want to use a layout on our website, but will ask your permission before proceeding. Faces and journaling can be blurred. We will never use a layout without your permission.
